What Should Be Conserved and What Let Go? Season Closing Discussion

What Should Be Conserved and What Let Go? Season Closing Discussion

On 2 July 2026 we closed the Institute’s political season with a discussion that asked: what should be conserved, and what should be let go?

The starting point was a new study published by our partners, the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies: The Legacy of Tradition: The Making of Lithuania’s Centre-Right by political scientist Justinas Dementavičius. It traces the ideas of Lithuanian centre right thought and their history, building on the author’s 2023 book Tradicijos palikimas. Centro dešinės ideologinė vaizduotė Lietuvoje.

The Legacy of Tradition: The Making of Lithuania's Centre-Right, a study by Justinas Dementavičius

The discussion brought together the author Justinas Dementavičius, Laurynas Kasčiūnas and Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė. We talked about which ideas of the centre right tradition are worth keeping and passing on, and what today’s politics should leave behind.
